Why Are Coleman Tents So Cheap

Coleman Tents is one of the most popular pieces of camping equipment in the market. They are lightweight, easy to set up, and are portable.

However; I have read other blogs, saying Coleman tents are less expensive than other leading brands due to the fact that they are lightweight and the fact that they use low-cost materials used in making their tents. I strongly don’t agree with this.

However; That Coleman wants the best affordable gear for its customers, using polyester fabrics instead of nylon, which can reduce the cost of producing and selling the tent. However; polyester fabrics will allow better ventilation.

You may wonder if not; but why? Coleman makes some of its gears, not only tents so cheap. It’s because the company wants to get more customers by proving the best and affordable gear.

However; Coleman tents are the most popular tents on the market for a reason. Having owned many models, I can say that they are incredible value for money. If you want to buy a new tent, but you aren’t sure which one to buy, here are some things to consider…

Is Coleman A Good Camping Brand

Coleman has been a name in camping and outdoor supplies for years. The company makes a wide range of camping and outdoor products. One of the most recognizable is the Coleman tent. Coleman tents can range in size from small to large and come in a variety of original materials.

Yeah, of course, Coleman is one of the best outdoor product companies so far, when it comes to camping gear, Coleman has been a good camping brand for its best known for providing the most value for money. Coleman is a brand that we tend to trust and we know we can get good value from.

What Material Are Coleman Tents Made From

Most tents, regardless of their size, have a robust, durable frame that’s built using either a welded or riveted frame or a proprietary suspension system.

Unlike conventional tents, a Coleman tent features a lattice design, which lets you create a high level of interior space for a tent that weighs less when compared to others.

They have made the Coleman tents from a polyester tent-wall and rain fly fabric that is coated to 450 mm (18″) HH.

Are All Coleman Tents Waterproof

A search on Google for “Coleman tent” reveals endless results of people complaining about their tents failing in rain, snow, and even occasional mist. “It seems that Coleman tents are not all made equal, and that’s why it’s not all Coleman tents that are waterproof”. However; if you are wondering if yours can take the beating of Mother Nature? Here’s conducting a pro-bono test on your tent to see if it can survive the elements.

Nevertheless; most of Coleman’s tents come with a rain fly. However; if you didn’t have one, meaning it’s unnecessary. As we all know that a rain fly is not required because the tent fabric is totally waterproof with sealed seams.

But I have seen few Coleman tents that are not suitable for rainy weather, even though the tent is waterproof, and this is because of the lack of a vestibule. So if you have this type of tent, and you plan on camping in inclement weather, it’s highly advisable you pack a tarp for added protection.

Are Coleman Instant Tents Waterproof

I have said it all above, Coleman produces many models of camping tents, all of which withstand the elements. While it meant these tents to be waterproof, due to the fabric used. However; They designed not all to be fully submersible.

However; recent testing by Consumer Reports has concluded that the Coleman Instant Tent is not as waterproof as previous models. In fact, it fails to meet Coleman’s specifications for water resistance.

Consumer Reports tested the model the company issued earlier this year, the Instant Cabin, and found it performed as advertised.

Coleman says that the waterproof claims for the Instant Cabin are only accurate if they set the tent up with a minimum of eight stakes and staked down with a ridge pole.

If the tent is not properly pitched, it’s not truly waterproof. They are not waterproof, however, and not all tents come with a closed-cell foam floor.

The best option for staying dry is to use a tarp and stabilizing support (like a tent pole or guy line), and the best option for staying warm and comfortable is to use a sleeping bag or sleeping pad to keep the air inside the tent insulated and cozy.
